Associate Membership

The FAAW Associate membership commenced in 2006 as a way for former directors of FAAW to remain connected to the organisation without an ongoing sizable time commitment.  FAAW benefits by expanding its network and access to the valuable skills base and members benefit by retaining a credible forum to pursue projects that further the interests of women in rural and regional communities.

How does it work?

  • Directors may become a member when they resign from the Board.  They will remain a member for as long as membership fees are paid, meet the set criteria or until such time that the Board withdraws membership.
  • Relevant and expert associate members will be sought out for specific projects.
  • Associate Membership is guided by Rules of Membership.
  • Expressions of Interest are called on a regular basis for involvement in new projects or initiatives that are compatible with the aims of FAAW.
  • An opt-in email database is to be established to circulate matters of interest. Members may be invited to join the general FAAW email group with the proviso that whenever they wish the current Board can choose to discuss any confidential or sensitive matter amongst the Board members alone. This would mean that if associate Directors chose to take up this option they would be included in much but not all of FAAW email traffic. It would be up to individual Board members to decide when Ex Directors needed to be excluded. This would be non negotiable.
  • FAAW associate members can seek to sit on any project sub committee if interested or have suitable expertise. The FAAW Board will approve any request to sit on FAAW sub committees.
  • FAAW Associate members to be an agenda item at each Board meeting to ensure that the Alumni are kept appraised of projects of interest.

Rules of Membership

  • Associate membership of FAAW does not include voting rights.
  • FAAW associate members will not attend Board meetings unless requested to.
  • To be eligible to attend a meeting or event as a representative of FAAW, an associate member must be asked by the current FAAW Board to attend the meeting as a FAAW rep  or seek approval from the Board to attend an event as a FAAW representative if the event is related to the aims and objectives of FAAW.  Alumni must provide a ½ page report to the Board at the conclusion of the event they attend including any important issues or hot topics.
  • When representing FAAW personal conduct should reflect the professional standing of FAAW in the Australian community.
  • No payment of expenses is automatic when undertaking a FAAW role or representing FAAW at events.
  • Membership of the Alumni can be withdrawn by the Board if at any time the member acts contrary to the aims and objectives of FAAW.
  • Members must agree to abide by these rules.

Cost

Associate Membership of the FAAW is $50 per annum (the amount will be reviewed annually by the Board).
