Board
FAAW is governed by a board with a maximum of twelve and minimum of five directors, selected through a consultative process and serving at least one recommended term of three years.
Board vacancies are advertised nationally through the FAAW email distribution list, Federal and State Departments of Agriculture, the Women on Boards network and rural women's networks.
Ms Jane Cleeve
President
B.Bus(Acc), MBA, ACIS, AAIM
Jane grew up in Texas, Queensland on her family's mixed farming/grazing property. After completing her Bachelor of Business (Acc), Jane began her career as an accountant in the cotton industry in Northern NSW. She joined NYK Line, a Japanese shipping line, in 1995 and became Regional Marketing Representative in 1998.
After a short term studying in the US, Jane moved to London in 2000, holding management roles within the Venture Capital industry. She returned to Australia and moved to Sydney in 2002 where she took up the Commercial Manager and Company Secretary role with Australian Livestock Export Corporation.
In 2006 she moved to Brisbane to start a consultancy,"Process" in the simplification of business processes and governance focusing on growth business. Jane is also Managing Director of BusinessNAV a management systems and software company. She is a Director of The Glennie School, member of Chartered Secretaries Australia and accredited member of Australian Institute of Management. In 2008 she was offered a Vincent Fairfax Fellowship, a two year ethics in leadership program through St James Ethics Centre.
Jane has served on the FAAW Board since 2004, as secretary from 2005-2007 and has been president since 2007.
Ms Lee Bath

Lee started her career in the Australian Regular Army after completing Officer Training and the Australian Defence Force Academy and the Royal Military College. She spent 10 years as an Army Officer and gained invaluable experience that set her in good stead for her career post Army. Lee has a Project Management background facilitating business process re-engineering, change management and communication strategy. She has an interest in leadership development and organisational learning. This has led to a number of projects aimed at developing learning communities across geographically dispersed organisations.
Lee is actively involved in her local community and is on the board of the Kirk Foundation, a foundation established to support the needs of underpriviliged children in Queanbeyan and the surrounding region. While Lee origninated from Western Australia she spent the majority of her youth in Darwin. Lee has lived in regional Victoria and now resides in regional NSW.
Lee has served on the FAAW Board since 2008.
Ms Jennifer Grigg

Jenny Grigg is currently Manager Rural Business at Sunraysia Institute of Tafe in Mildura Victoria. She is also a director in her family grain farming business in the Northern Mallee region and works and lives between the two locations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, Masters in Business Administration and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Jenny spent six years as Director of a Water Authority and is currently on the Board of Mallee Agriculture Research Foundation. She was the recipient of a Churchill Fellowship and studied cooperatives for rural community development in Ireland, USA and Canada in 2004. She is married to Paul with 4 adult children. Jenny is passionate about the advancement of rural women, rural communities and developing a culture of life-long learning.
Jennifer has served on FAAW Board since 2008.
Ms Karen Tully
B. Ed, M. Ed, Dip Fin Mkts, Cert IV in Business (Governance), Cert IV in Training and Assessment
Karen Tully is director of Mulga Solutions, a rural and remote specialist consultancy providing services to people and organisations in rural and remote areas inQueensland. In conjunction with her husband, she currently runs a beef breeding enterprise and a rural merchandise business. Previously, Karen has been employed as a teacher, Deputy Principal, Principal, and a Research Officer with Education Queensland, where her passion was in the area of distance and rural education.
Apart from 3 years living overseas, Karen has spent her entire life in rural and regional Queensland, and has a very real understanding of the wonderful liveability and unique lifestyle that is enjoyed by residents in rural communities. She has represented many organisations and groups at local, regional and state level, and is currently a board member of Rural Solutions, which administers the South West Rural Financial Counselling Service. In 2006 she was awarded a South West Queensland Mulga Award for Rural Community Leadership (Group). She is a member of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders, Qld College of Teachers, Women's Network Australia and Qld Rural Women's Network.
Karen has served on FAAW Board since 2008.
Julieanne Cox
BA(Hons)(English) / LLB (University of New South Wales) LLM (University of Technology, Sydney)
Julieanne is a partner of the international law firm Baker & McKenzie, specialising in litigation and insolvency. Julieanne grew up in the Central West of New South Wales on a mixed farm in what is now a major wine growing district, and moved to Sydney to study Arts and Law at University.
Julieanne has been practising as a lawyer for nearly 20 years. She acts primarily for major corporate clients, both local and from overseas. Her practice focuses on property, leasing and hotel related work, and information technology disputes. She also acts regularly for education providers such as Universities and for government. Julieanne also has considerable insolvency experience and has worked on a number of major corporate insolvency cases during her time with Baker & McKenzie.
Julieanne is a member of the Dispute Resolution Committee of the Law Society of New South Wales, which focuses on promoting dispute resolution methods such as mediation, conciliation and other forms of assisted negotiation as alternatives to litigation.
Julieanne is a director of Special Olympics Australia. Special Olympics Australia is a part of the international Special Olympics movement and provides year-round training and competition for children and adults with an intellectual disability in most states and territories of Australia.
Julieanne is married with two young children.
Julieanne has served on the board since 2009.
Monica Schlesinger
MSc Electronics and Telecommunications equiv, FAID
Monica is Managing Director of Espace P/L, a specialist consultancy in project management and commercial negotiations. Monica's international career spans over 20 years in Europe and Australia. Monica managed large projects and programs for corporations such as Telstra, Optus, Qantas and government departments. Monica has also managed large commercial negotiations ($40m+) and has written a course on Commercial negotiations.
As a Fellow of the Institute of Company Directors, she is experienced in board governance, strategy, risk management and fund raising for profit and not-for-profit organisations. Monica is currently a non-executive Director on the board of Sydney French Theatre and North West Disability Services.
Monica has served on FAAW Board since 2009.
