National Rural Women's Groups

National Rural Women's Coalition
The National Rural Women's Coalition (NRWC) is a Coalition of six national rural and women's organisations and an indigenous women. The NRWC was formed in 2001 and manages the National Rural Women's Secretariat, which supports input from rural women into Federal Government policy.

Government Departments for Women

The Office of the Status of Women
The Commonwealth Office of the Status of Women is a policy advisory unit to the Federal Government. Its work is founded on the goal of mainstreaming women's issues, which means working to ensure that a focus on women's experiences, issues or perspectives becomes everyone's business.

Department of Transport and Regional Services Rural Women's Unit
The Rural Women's Unit in DOTRS advises the department and The Hon. John Anderson, Deputy Prime Minister of Australia. Contains a link to the Rural Women's Advisory Council., which provided the Federal Government with a women's perspective on regional, rural and remote issues.

Department for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry rural women's links page. Contains links to the Women In Rural Industry Section (WIRIS), which runs many programs for rural women across Australia, including the National Plan for Women in Agricultural Resource Management.

Northern Territory Government Office of Women's Policy
The primary role of the Office is to assist Government to bring about the full and equal participation of women in the social and economic life of the Territory. 

Queensland Office for Women
The Office for Women (OFW) is the Queensland Government's lead agency for issues relevant to women and girls and is located in the Community Engagement Division, Department of the Premier and Cabinet.

South Australian Government Office for the Status for Women
The Office for the Status of Women is the key source of women's policy advice in Government and reports directly to the Minister for the Status of Women. The Office provides an enabling mechanism for whole of government consultation and coordination of strategies to improve the status of women.

Act Women's Information and Referral Centre
WiRC aims to provide a high quality, free, confidential, relevant and accurate information and referral service for women and their families in the ACT.

Western Australian Women's Policy Office
The role and functions of the Women's Policy Office are central to the Government's agenda for advancing the status of women in Western Australia.

Western Australian Rural Remote and Regional Women's Network
The RRR Network consists of over 5,000 members throughout Australia. The Network's charter is to bring together women from rural, remote and regional Western Australia to recognise, promote and expand the contribution they make to their communities. It aims to provide a mechanism for women to disseminate and share information on topics of interest to women and relevant to the development of regional communities.

National Foundation for Australian Women
The NFAW aims to advance and protect the interests of Australian women and to ensure the aims, ideals and the collective wisdom of the women's movement are handed on to new generations of women. The NFAW is the only broadly focused women's organization to have tax-deductible status in its own right. Women's organizations or projects can access this assistance to tax-effective fund raising.

Women in Rural Industries newsletter
The WIRIS newsletter is a valuable resource which is widely distributed to women in rural communities, women working in agriculture, fisheries and forestry. It is provided by the Queensland Department of Primary Industries and has information on training, current initiatives, funding, board positions, email groups and news.

National Women's Justice Coalition
The NWJC is a coalition of organisations and individuals which aims to promote women's equality before the law in Australia. In 1994 the Australian Law Reform Commission released three reports on Equality Before the Law which in summary reported on what the ALRC refered to as the failure of justice for women in Australia. The NWJC was established in the wake of the ALRC's reports in February 1995.

National Pioneer Women
The National Pioneer Women's Hall of Fame is located in the Old Court House in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. Its establishment was due to the efforts of outback pastoralist and tourism pioneer, Mrs Molly Clark, of Old Andado Station, Central Australia, and a small group of people who shared her dream.
