Patron's Message

Message from Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC
Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia
I am very proud to be patron of the Foundation for Australian Agricultural Women and to give my warm praise to its mission and evolution.
The FAAW is a marvellous organisation, providing thoughtful and sophisticated support to women leaders in rural and regional Australia. It makes space for your growth and development, for the flourishing of your networks. It elevates your voice and presence in our community.
I grew up among country women. My mother and her friends were my earliest examples of women's capacity for leadership and community service. Across my life I have been profoundly touched and influenced by the strength, endurance, generosity, balance and poise of rural women leaders. In bush towns and on remote stations, they are the heart and soul of their families and neighbourhoods.
They are the path-breakers and load-bearers, the skilled weavers of many threads, holding communities together and making rich and beautiful patterns in the process.
FAAW enables these women to influence industry, business and councils, to connect to information and resources, dialogue and exchange, innovation and creativity. Importantly, it recognises and champions their unique talents and celebrates their contributions.
I am delighted to endorse the FAAW, and I look forward to seeing its strong performance in the coming years.
