Rural Teleworking
What is teleworking?
Teleworking is working away from a central office and using a range of telecommunications applications to do so, such as email, videoconferencing and phone. Jobs that can be teleworked include: web design, project management, freelance journalism and accountancy.
Not everyone is suited for telework, as they need to be self motivated and have good organisational and communication skills. Some jobs are also not suitable to be teleworked, such as as those that require face to face communication or a hands on presence.
FAAW has a rural teleworking sub committee dedicated to seeking opportunities to increase the uptake of teleworking for rural/remote based women and their communities.
